What Is Reiki, and How Does it Work?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and healing. It stems from two Japanese words Rei – or Higher Power, and Ki – Life Force Energy; so Reiki literally means “spiritually guided life force energy.”
During a Reiki session I the channel Universal Energy through me, to you, and your body will take the energy where it is needed the most for healing, and relaxation.
How does Reiki help you heal?
Reiki helps your body switch from the fight or flight mode you are currently in (the sympathetic nervous system) to the to the relaxed nervous system, the parasympathetic nervous system. This dramatically decreases stress and aids in healing by removing the stress and anxiety on your body, and immune system.
Studies are also showing that “Reiki therapy is useful for relieving pain, decreasing anxiety/depression, and improving quality of life in several conditions.”
A study done in the 2022 Journal of Holistic Nursing found Reiki sessions significantly lowered anxiety and improved emotional regulation in grieving individuals. When we work together we can combine grief coaching and Reiki as we move forward, together.
Reiki energy moves along the fascia, and it goes where it needed the most, as dictated by your own body, by your own energy.

How much is a session?
For clients using other services – $70 a session.
For a single Reiki session – $90 a session
Where are the sessions done?
I have a Reiki studio in my home, or I can come to you as well, for an additional fee.
How long does a session last?
Typically around 60 minutes, however I schedule for 90 minutes so we are not rushed.
What Happens in a session?
There is a brief consultation before we begin to assess your current needs/concerns.
This is an in person therapy on a comfortable massage table where you are fully clothed. Please wear comfortable clothing.
We will do a meditation to start to get you into the parasympathetic nervous system (aka relax). Don’t worry if you haven’t meditated before or think you are bad at it, we will do it together.
All you have to do is lay, relax, and receive the energy.
Yes, it is ok if you fall asleep.
